Update: Spotify is back as of 12:30 EST. On a Spotify community page the streamer confirmed the outage was over, stating "All clear! Thanks for your patience. If you're still having issues, you can find out more on this issue on our Community support thread."

If you are still having issues, force close the app and reload it to enjoy your music and podcasts once again.

According to downdetector.com, a website that tracks outages, reports began to pour in about Spotify being down at around 8am EST. Since 9am EST, there have been over 20,000 reports of the app not working, with outage reports for Spotify coming in from all around the world. Spotify's web player, desktop app, and mobile app are all affected.

The Spotify Status X account, has confirmed the outage, saying "We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!"

This is the second major outage for Spotify in 2025, as the app experiences a similar issue back in April when it crashed for thousands of users.
