If Spotify Wrapped deserves credit for anything, it's kickstarting the trend of music streaming services offering yearly listening recaps. Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music have all begun offering end-of-year recaps like Spotify does, and now, for the first time ever, YouTube is expanding it to videos as well.

YouTube Recap will also assign you a "personality type" based on the kinds of videos you watched. Examples include "The Skill Builder," for users who gravitate toward educational or how-to content, and "The Sunshiner," for those who watch videos focused on positivity and good vibes.

YouTube Recaps is now available to users in the US on both YouTube's website and mobile app, and will roll out to users worldwide this week. The experience is free for all users, meaning it doesn't require a YouTube Premium subscription.

How to find your YouTube Recap

You can experience it on mobile and desktop

To find your YouTube Recap, simply select the "You" tab on YouTube, which is available on both the mobile app and desktop. On mobile, you'll see the "You" tab in the bottom-right corner of the app. On desktop, it appears on the left side of YouTube's homepage, below subscriptions.

When you open the "You" page on YouTube, you'll see a banner that says "Your 2025 Recap is here." Clicking or tapping it will start your experience. If you don't see that, it's likely because YouTube Recaps is still rolling out. You should see it soon, so keep checking.

YouTube Recap will be available until the end of the year, so you have plenty of time to check yours out.

While YouTube Recaps is primarily focused on your video-watching habits, it does also include music highlights if you've listened to a lot of music on YouTube this year. Though YouTube does point out that YouTube Music's recap experience will give you a much deeper dive into your favorite music, genres, and podcasts over the past year.

I'm really excited to see YouTube finally introduce its own Spotify Wrapped-like experience, although I have to admit I'm a little nervous about checking mine because of how much time I spend watching YouTube videos. Still, it's fun to get a personal overview of everything you've watched over the past year -- not just what you've listened to.

YouTube used to release its annual YouTube Rewind videos to highlight the platform's biggest trends, but it hasn't done one since 2019, which I'm okay with, since those weren't that great anyway. YouTube Recap offers a much more personal alternative, and it's available to everyone, not just YouTube Premium subscribers. YouTube Recap will be available until the end of the year, so you have plenty of time to check yours out.
