The OSO brand was founded in 2024, and the AI Earbuds are its first product. The company's goal is to bridge hardware and AI software to create trusted, interactive partners that learn from your activity to improve performance. I think the OSO AI Earbuds are a compelling debut product because they use cutting-edge technology to solve a unique user problem.

Spec-wise, the OSO AI Earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.2 and feature 13mm drivers and dual beamforming microphones with noise cancellation. They last around six hours of continuous use, with another 15 hours from the case.

The buds have a one-size-fits-all open-ear design without eartips, similar to the Apple AirPods 4. I found them slightly big for my ear canals and struggled to get a snug fit. Otherwise, they have a subtle, glossy black finish with stylish silver strips and the OSO logo on the stems. Their understated styling looks the part for professional use and fits seamlessly into business meetings and calls.

The stems include touch controls to start and end calls and to raise or lower the volume. I updated the functions to match my other earbuds in the OSO app and was satisfied with their responsiveness.

They come in a modern cube-like charging case that matches the buds' color scheme. The buds fit upright for charging, and the hinged secures them in place. A square LED touchscreen dominates the front and elevates the OSO AI earbuds above run-of-the-mill competitors with additional functionality.

It displays basic information, such as the time and the battery levels of the case and buds. I loved that I could skip tracks, adjust the volume, and access the equalizer presets using the case alone. It includes a convenient screen lock feature, so I don't have to worry about accidental touches when it's in my bag or pocket.

What I liked about the OSO AI Earbuds

Unique AI wizardry

The OSO AI earbuds get the basics right and provide excellent sound and microphone quality. All my conversations were loud and clear, and the people I spoke with had no trouble hearing me. I enjoyed using the OSO AI earbuds for music, and they sound better than many mid-range models I've tried because of their excellent clarity and solid bass.

The charging case stood out thanks to its premium feel and user-friendly touchscreen. Its spacious touchscreen was a breeze to navigate, and I appreciated being able to use it like a remote control to manage earbud functions. The animations are the perfect size and never feel cluttered, and the transitions between the interfaces are fluid and consistent.

On the software side, OSO's mobile app is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Everything's logically laid out, and I could easily find all the features without getting lost. I value simplicity and prefer the spacious OSO interface to cluttered rivals I've tried.

The OSO AI earbuds' defining feature is their ability to transcribe and summarize calls and conversations. I used them to transcribe live discussions with my daughter and calls with my wife and brother. I also recorded and transcribed podcasts to assess their performance.

The transcribing feature is around 90% accurate for conversations, depending on the speaker, and may have missed some words due to my South African accent. I found it marginally more accurate when transcribing podcasts from well-known YouTubers.

After transcribing, the built-in AI generates a precise description of each transcription and stores them in a library for later reading. Everything is stored in a single, accessible location, making it easy to find or export to other apps.

Summary is my favorite feature because it breaks down lengthy transcripts into easily digestible content, with overviews and points that highlight the key parts. This is a game-changing feature that will be valuable to those who spend hours a day in meetings or lectures and can't keep track of every detail.

New buyers can try the subscription-based premium plan for free for seven days to experience OSO's advanced AI features, like the LaxisChat and AI Writer. The plan increases the amount of transcription and AI summarization it can handle from 300 to 2,000 minutes per month and offers unlimited cloud storage for recordings, compared with the 1,000 minutes on the free version.

The premium plan is essential for serious users, unlocking the full potential of the OSO AI earbuds. I used the LaxisChat features to ask questions about transcribed conversations, and it provided accurate, thoughtful insights relevant to the topic.

I think the AI writer is an excellent tool because it can take transcribed or summarized notes and turn them into follow-up emails, blog posts, newsletters, or LinkedIn and X posts. This incredible automation feature creates content in seconds and can reduce users' daily workload by hours.

The OSO AI earbuds feel solid and exude a sophisticated vibe, despite being a first-generation product from a new brand. Yes, they could use refinement in some areas, but I feel OSO is on the right track and off to a great start.

What I didn't like about OSO AI earbuds

One size doesn't fit all

The biggest problem I had with the OSO AI Earbuds was their one-size-fits-all design, which was too big for me and always felt like they were about to fall out of my ears. I did everything I could to adjust their orientation, but had no luck finding a secure fit. This won't be an issue for some buyers, but it's something to consider for those with smaller ear canals.

At around $250, the OSO AI Earbuds compete with heavy hitters like the Bose QuietComfort Ultras and Sony WF-1000XM5s. However, they lack features, like a water-resistance rating and ANC, which limits their practicality.

Additionally, there's a $10 monthly fee to unlock the AI features, bringing the annual cost to $120. I feel the overall price will be acceptable to business users, but hard to swallow for people looking for do-all earbuds.

On the other hand, time is money, and the OSO AI Earbuds are worth it for people who'll use the full range of features to maximize their efficiency. The AI tools will change their lives by generating reports and documents in seconds and reducing their daily workload by hours, giving them more time to focus on other priorities.
