If you've recently sideloaded a book (or other document) onto your Kindle device, you may not be able to access it right now. As of last week, Kindle users brought to light a frustrating bug: every time they tried to open a sideloaded e-book, document, or other file, they were hit with an "Invalid ASIN" error pop-up.

Once a bookworm, always a bookworm. If you're the same, then you know the pain of choosing between rereading an old favorite novel, starting a new series, or going to the bookstore to stack another title atop the TBR pile. At one point or another, you've surely picked up more than one story at a time and tried to do a tandem read, which gets confusing fast if you're mixing up one fantasy world with another. Iron might kill fairies in Terrasen, but it doesn't do squat in Prythian.

Kindles and poolside binge-reads go together like peanut butter and jelly. Grabbing a new fantasy series and posting up on a chaise chair under the sun is S-tier multitasking in my book -- I love making the most of the UV index with my stories, but, with an abundance of siblings and rowdy apartment tenants at both pools I have at my disposal, I always run the risk of the splash zone interrupting the riders of Rohan coming to Gondor's aid.

While the days of dragging and dropping files directly onto your Kindle via USB are unfortunately behind us, I have found the Send to Kindle tool to be a very helpful replacement for this lost functionality, which has allowed me to send everything from 80,000 word fanfics posted on AO3 to public domain ePub files to my Kindle for instantaneous reading.

In sixth grade, I got lunch detention in my Language Arts and Literature class -- for reading. Sure, I wasn't always the most well-behaved kid, but I still stand by the fact that Mr. Doe had it out for me. He was lecturing the class on Call of the Wild, and little did he know, I had already read everything Jack London ever penned back in my California Gold Rush phase. It was one thing to doze off and daydream in class, and it was apparently another to be absolutely locked into Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass on my Kindle Keyboard (AKA Kindle 3) under my desk in 2011, completely ignoring my teacher.
