Following the global launch of the OnePlus 15 earlier this month, OnePlus has announced another major launch event this year, this time for its new mid-range phone and tablet.
The OnePlus 15R features a similar design to the OnePlus 15 but with toned-down specs to lower its price, including two rear cameras instead of three and likely a less powerful chipset, with rumors suggesting it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. OnePlus has confirmed that it will be available in two "stunning colorways": charcoal black and mint breeze.
As for the OnePlus Pad Go 2, it is the first budget tablet OnePlus will release in the US and Canada. So far, OnePlus hasn't shared many details about it, aside from the fact that it will be available in Shadow Black and include a stylus. For the full specs, we'll have to wait until December 17. Earlier this year, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Pad 3 with a 13.2-inch display and a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, so the Pad Go 2 will likely be smaller and less powerful.
Pricing for either device has not yet been announced, as OnePlus is saving those details for its December 17 launch event. For reference, the OnePlus 13R launched for $600, so the OnePlus 15R is expected to be around the same price. The OnePlus Pad 3 launched in the US for $700, so the Pad Go 2 should be priced below that.
A new OnePlus Watch is coming, but not in the US
The OnePlus Watch Lite will only launch in Europe
Besides the OnePlus 15R and OnePlus Pad Go 2, OnePlus has also announced that it will launch a new smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch Lite, on December 17.
However, the OnePlus Watch Lite will launch only in Europe, so OnePlus fans in the US, Canada, and India won't have a chance to pick one up. Though it's unclear if this will change in the future.
Details about the Watch Lite are limited at the moment, with OnePlus only confirming it will come in one color, Silver Steel, and that it is "designed to bring flagship-level health and fitness features to an even more accessible price point" (via GSMArena). For its price and exact specs, we'll have to wait until December 17.
Overall, it seems OnePlus has decided that December is the time to release all its new budget-friendly devices this year, and in particular, I'm most excited about the OnePlus 15R. If the leaks about its specs are accurate, it's shaping up to be the best mid-range phone on the market, well surpassing the Pixel 9a and the iPhone 16e. However, it will be interesting to see whether the OnePlus 15R actually goes on sale in the US in December. While the OnePlus 15 launched globally this month, sales in the US are "temporarily postponed" due to the now-ended US government shutdown, which delayed its FCC certification. If the OnePlus 15R is in the same boat, it might not arrive at many people's doorsteps until 2026. Hopefully, on December 17, we will have more clarity.
