Updated release date for Kobo Remote
The Kobo Remote was originally scheduled to launch in-store and online on November 4, 2025, but the release date has now been pushed back to December 2, 2025. The Kobo Remote also won't be able to control play/pause and audio functions, as previously indicated in its FAQ. This story has been updated to reflect these changes.
Kobo has announced that it is releasing a wireless remote for its lineup of e-readers, allowing you to turn the pages of books with the press of a single button. It has been aptly named the Kobo Remote and is ergonomically designed for comfort, weighing just 35 grams -- much lighter than holding an e-reader.
While a remote for turning pages on an e-reader might seem unnecessary, it could be quite useful in several situations for avid readers. Especially when you're reading in bed and don't want to move, or when you have your Kobo propped up while cooking, eating, working out, studying or on a flight. Kobo describes its new remote as the "ideal reading companion."
The Kobo Remote will be available in stores and online starting December 2, 2025, in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and more, priced at $30 USD ($35 CAD).

Its powered by a single AAA battery and includes a lanyard
If you're interested in picking up the Kobo Remote, it's compatible with any of Kobo's Bluetooth-enabled e-readers, including the Kobo Clara 2E, Clara BW, Clara Colour, Libra 2, Libra Colour, Sage, Elipsa, and Elipsa 2E.
Since the remote works by Bluetooth, all you have to do is pair it with your Kobo, and it will instantly start working. The Kobo Remote is powered by a single AAA battery, which should last quite a while and can be easily replaced.
"The Kobo Remote is the perfect accessory for peak immersive reading; it's an invitation to lounge deeper, multitask smarter, and simply enjoy reading without limits, no matter whether your environment is beach or blankets," said Michael Tamblyn, CEO of Rakuten Kobo, in a press release.
If you want a Kobo Remote, you can snag it on Kobo's website starting December 2 for $30. I'm honestly quite a fan of this remote, and I can see myself using it in various situations, like running on the treadmill or when I'm on a long flight or train ride. The Kobo Remote also includes a lanyard you can attach to it and put on your wrist to help prevent dropping it.
