Ads are everywhere on streaming services as companies come to realize that the old cable model of selling commercial space to make money was actually a pretty good model. For consumers and subscribers, it means higher prices and more advertisements before, during, and after titles. Even if you pay more money to go ad-free, you're still likely to see sponsored content or recommendations from the streamer that are simply ads in disguise.

Ads are increasingly difficult to avoid on streaming services these days. While many services do let you pay extra to go ad-free, it's just not realistic for most of us to pay that premium every time, given how fragmented movie and TV catalogs are. You could easily end up spending more than you would for an old-school cable package -- not that HBO or Paramount would mind.

For years, Ethernet cables were the best way to get the best connection, and while that's largely still the case, the gap between them and Wi-Fi has closed significantly. In fact, the gap has closed so much that I hardly use an Ethernet cable anymore. My office PC needs one since it doesn't have a Wi-Fi card, but that's the only thing I use a cable for.
